The Principle of Individual Differences
The Principle of Individual Differences states that there is no such thing as “one size fits all”. Everyone is in some way unique and it is important to realize that we all have different responses to exercise. Some build endurance easily, others gain strength with little or no effort, some are naturally lean and/or muscular, while some are prone to higher body fat levels. Age, gender, and tendency toward injury play very important factors as well. For these reasons some training protocols that are designed for “everyone” may not be appropriate for some or may create premature stress or dysfunction in the body. To overcome many of these negative factors it is a good idea to consult a trained fitness professional that will design an appropriate program tailored for you.
